“Sue Wintgens is a magnificent teacher of the Relational Paradigm. She is one of those rare people whose voice speaks from the depths of her soul. Sue informs, inspires and delights.”
Family, friends, colleagues and clients often describe me as warm, empathetic, immensely curious, humorous, down to earth, honest and genuinely compassionate. What I know about myself is that I am passionate about people and always looking for ways to integrate new understanding, wisdom and ways of helping them create the sort of happy, relaxed relationships they long for.
My own life includes 5 children, 2 stepchildren and 14 grandchildren-and all the challenges that being in a large, dispersed family offers! Having experienced the pain of divorce and now in a happy marriage of some 23 years and counting, everything I teach and guide people into has been road tested in my own relationships. I enjoy working with couples to guide them into the changes they intuitively know are possible.
Having worked with couples for many years now, I have became convinced that working in Intensives gives couples the best opportunity to experience and integrate deep, effective transformative change . In this sort of change you find yourself behaving differently because you are different and not because you are trying to be different!
Trained in both South Africa and England, I have lived and worked in the UK since 2002 and run a successful private practice as well as presenting workshops and trainings with my husband Brett. We have taught in the UK, Holland, USA, Namibia and South Africa. We opened the Kairos Encounter Centre (Kairos meaning a supreme opportunity for good), an institute devoted to workshops and trainings in the helping professions using Encounter-centered Couples Therapy, developed by Hedy Schleifer. Over the years I have brought my experience as a teacher to guide hundreds of couples and individuals wanting to find the tools and skills they need to deal with their unique set of challenges.
As a teacher and consultant, I enjoy supporting therapists, coaches and other professionals in training from a relational, integrative approach that facilitates the integration of personal development, skills and passion. The trainings and workshops I present draw from my background of Imago Relationship Therapy, Encounter-centered Couples Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Memory Reconsolidation and I enjoy creating a rich learning space in which people can learn and explore. I like to work in a warm interactive style with humour to create a welcoming space for the community of practitioners to embrace themselves and their work with enthusiasm and joy.*Sue is BACP (British Association for Psychotherapists and Counsellors) accredited and a senior member of the NCP (National Council for Psychotherapy) as well as being a Consultant (Supervisor),CSTD accredited, and Trainer. She is also a certified Imago Therapist and Workshop Presenter and a graduate of Hedy Schleifers Masterclass . She is also trained in Advanced Brainspotting.
